About Jim Woodcock
National Petroleum Day commemorates August 27, 1859 — when Edwin L. Drake drilled the first successful commercial oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania. Here in the Permian Basin, we honor the interdependence between oil and gas companies, nonprofits, educational institutions, and community organizations. Jim Woodcock is the living embodiment of that interdependence.
Jim Woodcock has built a life of leadership, philanthropy, and success. A proud Midlander, Jim and Claire have called the Permian Basin home for over 40 years. He purchased Hy-Bon Engineering in 1979, pioneering environmental solutions in the oil and gas industry long before it became an industry priority. Under his leadership, Hy-Bon became one of the most respected environmental engineering firms in the Permian Basin.
Jim serves on multiple community boards, including UT Permian Basin's Development Board and the College of Business Advisory Council. He is the founder of the Permian Basin Water In Energy Conference — a platform that brings together the best minds in the industry to address one of the Basin's most critical challenges.
